Choosing FIFA 20 Career Mode’s best cheap high potential right backs (RB)

The most important metric when considering the best high potential young right back in FIFA 20 Career Mode is the potential overall rating.

Those that feature in the body of the article have the highest potential rating. The others listed in the table at the foot of the report have a rating of at least 80 POT. The right backs included have a release clause of £5 million or less.

We have excluded players who are currently on-loan at other clubs. The likes of Achraf Hakimi [OVR 82 – POT 87] (Borussia Dortmund), Jonjoe Kenny [OVR 75 – POT 83] (FC Schalke 04) and Valentino Lazaro [OVR 77 – POT 83] (Newcastle United) won’t be featured.

Jeremie Frimpong (OVR 68 – POT 85)

For those looking for an attacking, athletic right back, your best option is Celtic’s Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutchman joined Celtic from Manchester City at the start of this season, going on to make 14 league appearances for Neil Lennon’s side.

Frimpong is an excellent option for those who want an electric right back. His 92 acceleration and 90 sprint speed are perfect for a team that plays on the counter-attack – especially those who play three at the back.

Frimpong is also a durable choice, with a rating of 74 for stamina. If you get the right back, you can bring him into the attack with ease by having the Dutchman make overlapping runs.

The 18-year-old is very good at making runs, and he is strong on the ball. With ratings of 76 dribbling and 75 ball control, Frimpong is your best available option.

Josha Vagnoman (OVR 66 – POT 85)

Josha Vagnoman is a puzzle; he’s someone who can play in several different positions, but figuring out which is his best is a challenge. The Hamburg-native has played in a few different positions already in his young career.

Vagnoman made his first-team debut for Hamburg two seasons ago, coming off of the bench for 20 minutes in a 6-0 thumping to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Since then, Vagnoman and Hamburger SV have been resigned to the second-tier of German, with the young right back featuring in 18 games in 2. Bundesliga.

The German possesses the attributes that FIFA 20 players look for in a right back, primarily through his 86 sprint speed and 82 acceleration. Vagnoman also has 76 strength and 72 stamina, enabling him to last for longer in heated match-ups.

The only concerns with Vagnoman are the technical skills. The 42 long passing and 45 heading accuracy mean that he is a liability when trying to switch the play or in aerial duels.

Ki-Jana Hoever (OVR 62 – POT 84)

Another Dutchman on our list, Liverpool’s Ki-Jana Hoever starts with the lowest overall rating of our selection. Hoever has featured for the first-team in the EFL Cup and the FA Cup on a few occasions.

Currently in Liverpool’s U23 squad, on FIFA 20, Hoever is available to sign on-loan or on a permanent deal.

The Amsterdam-native isn’t the quickest of this bunch, but for what he lacks in movement speed, he makes up for in defensive awareness (61), composure (69), and jumping (70).

Hoever isn’t someone that you can continuously pepper the sprint button with as his stamina rating sits at a lowly 58 at the start.

Japhet Tanganga (OVR 69 – POT 84)

An all-rounder of defence, next on our list is Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga. The Englishman made his Premier League debut this season under José Mourinho in a 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

You can deploy Tanganga at LB, CB, or RB as the 6’0’’ defender is very versatile. He can even be used at wing-back.

Tanganga is the best defender of this bunch in terms of defending, with 75 strength, 68 defensive awareness and 71 stand tackle. He also has 88 jumping, making him an aerial threat despite the 63 rating for his heading accuracy.

If you wish to buy Tanganga, be prepared to pay £5 million for the adaptable young defender.

He’s the cheapest option of our five, but the Belgian U21, Killian Sardella, is an excellent option at right back or left back.

Sardella has been featured 18 times for Anderlecht in the Jupiler Pro League, racking up 1,409 minutes on Belgian top-flight turf.

The 17-year-old boasts a high-grade for his agility (79), excellent balance (78), and a good amount of speed thanks to his with 78 acceleration and 74 sprint speed.

Sardella is strong on the ball and is someone who can be used in build-up play.

With 74 ball control, 72 short passing, and 72 dribbling, Sardella is an excellent option. However, the young Belgian lacks in strength (46), and his rating of 55 for defensive awareness is the lowest amongst our top five.
