FIFA 20 Wonderkids: Best Belgian Players to Sign in Career Mode

FIFA 20 Career Mode Guides Wonderkids

Belgium have arguably the best team they’ve ever had, but they have struggled in international tournaments to achieve the highest goals. Can any of the players below push them over the hill to success?

Choosing FIFA 20 Career Mode’s best Belgian wonderkids

We are looking at the best young Belgian players on FIFA 20 Career Mode. To qualify, players must be under the age of 23, have a minimum potential of 82, and they also cannot have an overall rating above 80. Therefore, Youri Tielemans, who has an overall rating of 81, is not included in this list.

For a full list of all the best Belgian wonderkids in FIFA 20, take a look at the table at the bottom of this page.

Jérémy Doku (OVR 69 – POT 87)

Team: RSC Anderlecht
Best Position: RW
Age: 17
Overall/Potential: 69 OVR / 87 POT
Value (Release Clause): £1.9 million (£4 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Stats: 95 Agility, 94 Acceleration, 92 Balance

Making his Jupiler Pro League debut last season, Doku has continued to improve, earning a starting spot for RSC Anderlecht this season to make 21 appearances. In that time, he’s racked up three goals and three assists.

Valued at £1.9 million, Doku would be an ideal signing for a Career Mode in which you start in the lower leagues – like a Road to Glory campaign.

What stands out when looking at Doku is his pace and skill moves. His 90-plus stats in acceleration, agility, and balance, coupled with 85-plus stats in sprint speed and jumping, show off his athletic ability.

Having Four-Star skill moves provides some extra flair. Combine those two attributes and you’ve got a winger who can dominate their channel.

Yari Verschaeren (OVR 73 – POT 87)

Team: RSC Anderlecht
Best Position: CAM
Age: 17
Overall/Potential: 73 OVR – 87 POT
Value (Release Clause): £7.2M (£15.3M)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Stats: 89 Agility, 87 Balance, 79 Ball Control

A product of RSC Anderlecht’s youth academy, Yari Verschaeren made his debut in the Jupiler Pro League and the Europa League last season. That led to a debut in the stacked Belgian national team in September 2019, with the midfielder scoring a goal in only his second game for the Red Devils.

With a market value of £7.2 million, he’s on the more expensive side of what could be considered a wonderkid, but with a potential rating of 87, he’s worth the investment.

Verschaeren has a high/high work rate and four-star skill moves. So, he puts in the effort to win the ball and has the skill to do something exciting with it at his feet.

Verschaeren’s best stats are impressive. He’s very mobile in the midfield, with an agility rating of 89 and a balance rating of 87. With a bit of training, his ball control rating of 79 will soar into the 80s, allowing him to be an integral part of any midfield.

Marco Kana (OVR 66 – POT 86)

Team: RSC Anderlecht
Best Position: CB
Age: 16
Overall/Potential: 66 OVR / 86 POT
Value (Release Clause) £1.1 million (£2.7 million)
Skill Moves: Two-Star
Best Stats: 78 Balance, 77 Jumping, 76 Agility

Marco Kana has made his way up through the youth system to the first-team of RSC Anderlecht. Kana earned a decent stint in the starting line-up this season, even scoring a goal from centre-back.

Yet to make his debut for Belgium, it can’t be far away if he continues to improve and build upon his initial season in the Jupiler Pro League.

Rated at 66 overall, Kana would be a good addition to a long term Career Mode, especially if starting in the lower leagues.

A mobile centre-back is always helpful, with Kana coming with a balance rating of 78 and an agility rating of 76 to allow him to twist and turn where necessary and make the important tackles.

He’s also going to be decent in the air going forward, with an initial jumping rating of 77.

Zinho Vanheusden (OVR 75 – POT 86)

Team: Standard de Liège
Best Position: CB
Age: 19
Overall/Potential: 75 OVR / 86 POT
Value (Release Clause): £9 million
Skill Moves: Two-Star
Best Stats: 78 Sliding Tackle, 77 Standing Tackle, 76 Defensive Awareness

Vanheusden has split his career between Standard Liège and Inter, moving between the clubs multiple times.

Since moving back to Standard Liège in the summer of 2018 – initially on-loan but then permanently – he’s played consistently and has notched two league goals from centre-back.

Valued at £9 million, Vanheusden is the most expensive player on this list, but at 19-years-old, he is poised to have a long and successful career. What stands out about Vanheusden is that his best stats are all directly related to defensive ability.

With a few training sessions, his essential stats for defending will rise into the 80s. He also has the Power Header trait, which is useful during set pieces at both ends of the pitch.

Maarten Vandevoordt (OVR 66 – POT 85)

Team: KRC Genk
Best Position: GK
Age 17
Overall/Potential 66 OVR / 85 POT
Value (Release Clause): £990,000 (£2.1 million)
Skill Moves: One-Star
Best Stats: 69 GK Reflexes, 68 GK Diving, 66 GK Handling

The only goalkeeper on this list and he’s only 17-years-old, Vandevoordt could sit between the sticks for club and country for many years to come.

His debut on the European stage didn’t get off to the best of starts, with Napoli putting four past him. An elbow injury in mid-January suspended his play for the rest of the season so far, but he’s sure to come back stronger.

If you’re one who enjoys playing Career Mode for multiple seasons, Vandevoordt could be an ideal back-up goalkeeper who takes the first team position after a couple of seasons – going on to dominate for many years to come.

On the ratings front, there’s nothing particular of note. His stats are pretty even across the goalkeeping attributes, but steady training will allow him to reach his high potential of 85.

Charles De Ketelaere (OVR 70 – POT 84)

Team: Club Brugge KV
Best Position: CAM
Age: 18
Overall/Potential: 70 OVR / 84 POT
Value (Release Clause): £3.3 million (£6.7 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Stats: 78 Sprint Speed, 76 Ball Control, 75 Short Passing

Making his professional debut in the Jupiler Pro League this season, Charles De Ketelaere is an exciting and versatile attacking midfielder.

He is a product of the Club Brugge KV youth academy and though he’s yet to play a game for the Belgian national team, you’d imagine the call will come at some point in his career.

You only have to see seconds of highlights to witness the flair and skill that De Ketelaere carries – which is reflected in his FIFA ratings.

With sprint speed, ball control, short passing, and dribbling being his top stats, you can see that De Ketelaere is a player who’s quick on the ball, willing to drive it and his team forward: all with the Flair trait to prove it.

Albert-Mboyo Sambi Lokonga (OVR 72 – POT 83)

Team: RSC Anderlecht
Best Position: CM
Age: 19
Overall/Potential: 72 OVR / 83 POT
Value (Release Clause): £4.5 million (£7.7 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Stats: 81 Agility, 78 Ball Control, 78 Composure

A product of the RSC Anderlecht youth academy, Sambi Lokonga has cemented himself in the Anderlecht first-team line-up.

A midfielder who sits in the middle of the park and leans towards a slightly more defensive role, Sambi Lokonga created three assists in the last two matches before the season was suspended – showing his keen eye for the game.

Ratings-wise, Sambi Lokonga is very capable on the ball, with stats above 70 in five out of the six dribbling statistics, including his best stat, agility, which sits at 81.

His overall stats put him in good stead as a solid centre midfielder who, with a bit of training, can become a key part of a top team in one of the top European leagues.

Killian Sardella (OVR 65 – POT 83)

Team: RSC Anderlecht
Best Position: RB
Age: 17
Overall/Potential: 65 OVR / 83 POT
Value (Release Clause): £878,000
Skill Moves: Two-Star
Best Stats: 79 Agility, 78 Acceleration, 78 Balance

The only full-back on this list, Killian Sardella can play at either left-back or right-back and has played in both positions for RSC Anderlecht this season.

Sardella possesses solid pace and dribbling stats for a player with an overall rating of 65. He has all the makings of a great FIFA 20 full-back as he’s quick and mobile, as shown by his 79 rating in agility, 78 in acceleration, and 78 balance.

Though he hasn’t racked up any professional goals or assists yet, his skill on the ball means he could pop-up with a cheeky assist after he’s gone flying up one of the flanks.

Orel Mangala (OVR 74 – POT 83)

Team: VfB Stuttgart
Best Position: CM
Age: 21
Overall/Potential: 74 OVR / 83 POT
Value (Release Clause): £7.7 million (£13.8 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Stats: 80 Stamina, 79 Balance, 79 Ball Control

Orel Mangala is the only player on this list to not to play his football in the top flight of Belgian football, but don’t let that put you off.

After beginning his career at RSC Anderlecht, he has since played for three German teams across the top two divisions. He is currently playing for Stuttgart and has solidified himself in their midfield.

Mangala is your all-rounder of midfield on FIFA 20. He possesses 14 stats rated above 70, and positionally, he can play in the middle of the park or sit slightly deeper in a defensive midfield role.

Aster Vranckx (OVR 62 – POT 83)

Team: KV Mechelen
Best Position: CM
Age: 16
Overall/Potential: 62 OVR / POT 83
Value (Release Clause): £585,000
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Stats: 73 Strength, 71 Sprint Speed, 70 Jumping

A product of their own youth academy, Aster Vranckx made his professional debut for KV Mechelen this season.

Since, he has gone from strength-to-strength, playing some of his best football just before the season was suspended. In his last five games in the Jupiler Pro League, he scored a goal and created two more.

Being only 16-years-old, Vranckx’s stats reflect his youth. Only two ratings over 70, the Belgian really is one for the future. However, if you do acquire him early on, he will reward you with his potential of 83.
