Choosing FIFA 21 Career Mode’s best wonderkid attacking midfielders (CAM)

Below, you will find all of the best young attacking midfielders – one or two for the present, but mostly for the future. Any one of the players below could be a great long-term asset for your Career Mode.

To appear on the list, the players have to be 21-years-old or younger, play CAM as their primary role, and have a minimum potential of 80. The potential ratings are the key to the players’ long-term success and how good they can become in FIFA 21.

At the top of this page, we run through the five best players that fit the criteria. Further down, you can find a table of all of the wonderkids that fit the criteria.

Kai Havertz (OVR 85 – POT 93)

Havertz left his home country in a move worth over £70 million this summer, moving to the South London side Chelsea. He is a young star and is touted for great things in the future.

The German is a very intelligent footballer with a high level of spacial awareness. Last season, he scored 12 goals and contributed six assists, showing off his ability in the final third.

Deceptively fast, Havertz has 88 sprint speed to go along with 85 reactions and 78 acceleration. His 85 finishing, 84 positioning, and 84 composure also make him dangerous in front of goal.

With fantastic ability in the final third and already being able to play at CF, Havertz may even be a viable option as a striker with a position change.

Thiago Almada (OVR 73 – POT 89)

Making his way from the youth academy to the first team, Vélez Sarsfield’s Thiago Almada is an attacking midfielder who can play on either wing or down the middle. Surely it’s only a matter of time before he gets snapped up by one of Europe’s big teams.

Almada’s 2019/20 season was cut short, as it was for the rest of the Argentinian Superliga, however, he will hope to build off of consistent starts and make his mark in the league this season.

At 5’7”, Almada may only have 56 strength, but he is lightning quick and very nimble. He has 88 acceleration, 85 sprint speed, 91 agility, and 94 balance. Almada also boasts 81 curve, 79 dribbling, and 77 ball control to go with his hefty 77 composure despite being just 19-years-old.

With such raw physical attributes and high potential, the Argentine could be developed into the player of your choosing.

Martin Ødegaard (OVR 83 – POT 89)

Only 21 years of age, Ødegaard burst onto the footballing scene six years ago with a move to Real Madrid. After loan spells in the Netherlands and back in Spain, he now looks ready to reach his potential back in the capital.

Ødegaard is an attacking midfielder who can play down the middle or on the right-hand side of the attack. He is a very skilful player, with enough flair to get himself out of trouble with a trick or two.

Following the trend of shifty attacking midfielders, Ødegaard has 85 agility and 83 balance. Where he excels is his skill attributes, all of which are over the 80-point threshold. The Norwegian already boasts 86 dribbling, 85 ball control, 81 curve, and 83 free-kick accuracy.

With 80 acceleration and five-star skill moves to go along with his 84 crossing, Ødegaard could also be utilised on the wing to put dangerous crosses into goal-scoring positions.

At 17, Florian Wirtz is very much beginning his journey as a professional footballer. Graduating from Leverkusen’s youth academy to the first-team this summer, he will look for minutes on the pitch this season to show what he can do.

From what few games Wirtz has played, he seems to prefer to play down the middle or on the right-hand side of the attacking midfielder role. However, being so young, time is on his side as he looks to establish his role and position.

Being able to grow by 20 points up to 88 OVR, Wirtz is very much a blank canvas. That said, the German already has 74 dribbling and 76 ball control. His standout attribute is his agility at 84, but he also impresses FIFA 21 managers with his 76 balance, 76 sprint speed, and 72 acceleration.

Cherki can play on either side of the attack or down the middle as an attacking midfielder. Already recognised for his skill on the ball, the French wonderkid is perfectly happy using either foot.

Only a handful of players on FIFA 21 have five-star skill moves and five-star weak foot ratings, and Cherki is the lowest rated of those players by quite some margin. Despite coming in at 67 OVR, he still boasts 75 dribbling and 73 ball control.

Cherki’s other headline ratings are his 81 balance, 76 agility, 71 sprint speed, and 71 acceleration. All other attributes fall below the 70-mark.
