Despite struggling for success on the world stage, both Canada and the United States have produced some top-class talents over the years. The likes of Tim Howard, Landon Donovan, and Clint Dempsey headline for the US, while Atiba Hutchinson and Julian de Guzman managed to put Canada on the football map.
Even considering those talents above, both countries now look to be on the cusp of true golden generations, with incredibly highly-rated wonderkids emerging from the North American nations. Here, we’re helping you to home-in on these top talents in FIFA 22, listing all of the best Canadian wonderkids and American wonderkids.
Choosing FIFA 22 Career Mode’s best Canadian and American wonderkids
As stated, the North American nations have suddenly emerged as hotbeds for top young talents – perhaps spurred on by the 1994 World Cup in the US. In FIFA 22, Jonathan David, Sergiño Dest, and Alphonso Davies all feature among the best wonderkids to sign.
In order for a player to be selected as one of these top wonderkids, they need to have Canada or the US registered as their footballing nation – regardless of where they’re born – not be older than 21-years-old, and have a potential rating of at least 80.
At the bottom of the piece, you’ll find the complete list of all of the best Canadian wonderkids and US wonderkids in FIFA 22.
1. Alphonso Davies (82 OVR – 89 POT)

Team: Bayern Munich
Age: 20
Wage: £50,000
Value: £49 million
Best Attributes: 96 Acceleration, 96 Sprint Speed, 85 Dribbling
Regardless of his 82 overall and mighty 89 potential – which makes him the best Canadian wonderkid to sign in Career Mode – Alphonso Davies is one of the best players in FIFA 22 because of his speed.
The left back born in Buduburam, Ghana, is among the fastest players in the game, boasting 96 acceleration and 96 sprint speed. His other lofty attributes, like the 85 dribbling, 81 reactions, 81 short passing, and 79 standing tackle, are also great, but Davies’ pace is his best factor.
From the Vancouver Whitecaps to one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world, Davies almost immediately made his presence known in the Bayern Munich camp. Now, having proven to be technically sound and immensely athletic, he’s the Bavarian side’s go-to left back, scoring five goals and 15 assists by his 93rd game.
2. Giovanni Reyna (78 OVR – 87 POT)

Team: Borussia Dortmund
Age: 18
Wage: £16,000
Value: £25.5 million
Best Attributes: 86 Dribbling, 84 Agility, 79 Shot Power
Another North American talent developing in the Bundesliga, Giovanni Reyna’s 78 overall rating at 18-years-old is impressive enough, but it’s his 87 potential rating that makes him the best American wonderkid to sign.
Reyna already boasts the build of a useful CAM in FIFA 22. His 86 dribbling, 79 shot power, 84 agility, and 79 short pass show that he’s a real menace on the ball and can operate from the pocket in front of opposing defences.
Borussia Dortmund have long been willing to give game time to top prospects, which is why the Durham, England-born teenager has already accumulated 69 games, ten goals, and 11 assists for the club. After starting in each of the first three games of this Bundesliga campaign, scoring twice, injury derailed Reyna’s hot start.
3. Jonathan David (78 OVR – 86 POT)

Team: LOSC Lille
Age: 21
Wage: £26,500
Value: £27.5 million
Best Attributes: 87 Sprint Speed, 86 Jumping, 85 Stamina
Jonathan David and his 86 potential rating allow him to rank highly among the best young strikers in FIFA 22 as well as stand one of the best Canadian wonderkids to sign in Career Mode.
Already a 78-overall forward, David can play as a striker or centre forward, with his 87 sprint speed, 85 stamina, 86 jumping, 84 acceleration, and 78 short passing lending him to the latter. In either position, the Brooklyn-born star’s 80 finishing and 72 heading accuracy already guarantee goals.
Playing for LOSC Lille, David is proving to be a phenomenal talent. He tallied 13 goals and three assists in his first 37 Ligue 1 games for the club – after arriving from KAA Gent – and has started this season with four goals in eight league matches. Better still, he already has 15 goals in 18 games for Canada.
4. Sergiño Dest (76 OVR – 85 POT)

Team: FC Barcelona
Age: 20
Wage: £57,000
Value: £13.5 million
Best Attributes: 89 Acceleration, 88 Agility, 86 Sprint Speed
Born in the Netherlands, capped for the USA, Sergiño Dest weighs in as one of the best young right backs in FIFA 22, let alone one of the best American wonderkids to sign in Career Mode.
Dest’s strengths are in his athleticism – particularly when it comes to speed. The American comes into FIFA 22 with 89 acceleration, 86 sprint speed, 80 stamina, and 88 agility, allowing him to work a full two-way game along the right flank.
Having joined Barcelona in 2020 for £19 million, signing from Ajax, Dest had a full season to establish himself as a starting XI contender, ending the season with three goals in 44 games. This season, Barça have been turned on their head, but he’s getting the minutes that indicate a huge future for him at Camp Nou.
5. Konrad de la Fuente (72 OVR – 83 POT)

Team: Olympique de Marseille
Age: 20
Wage: £17,500
Value: £4.4 million
Best Attributes: 85 Acceleration, 84 Balance, 81 Sprint Speed
Konrad de la Fuente already has a decent overall rating of 72, but it’s his 83 potential that makes him one of the best American wonderkids to sign in Career Mode – and he’s only valued at £4.4 million.
As a right-footed left winger, you’d hope that De la Fuente has the ability to cut in inside and shoot. As it stands, his 60 long shots, 64 shot power, and 67 finishing don’t give him a reliable end product. However, he can also play as a right winger, where his 85 acceleration, 81 sprint speed, and 74 crossing can be best deployed.
Having proven his ability with Barcelona B to feature three times for the first-team, the Floridian’s time at Camp Nou was cut short, with him being one of many promising talents who had to be sold off over the summer. Moving to Marseille for £2.7 million, he’s already a regular feature for the Ligue 1 side.
6. Jesus Ferreira (70 OVR – 82 POT)

Team: FC Dallas
Age: 20
Wage: £3,200
Value: £3.3 million
Best Attributes: 86 Balance, 85 Sprint Speed, 84 Acceleration
One of the few top American wonderkids to still be playing in the US, Jesus Ferreira should still be considered a top target in Career Mode even if a European giant doesn’t just yet.
The Colombia-born American is all about his physical ratings, with his 85 sprint speed, 84 acceleration, 84 stamina, and 83 agility significantly outpacing his 70 overall rating. Still, the main appeal of Ferreira is his 82 potential rating.
Ferreira is a product of the Dallas Academy. He made his way into first-team contention in 2017. In 2018, he went out on-loan to the team now known as FC Tulsa in the USLC. Since then, the attacking midfielder’s gone from strength to strength, even scoring six goals and six assists in 21 MLS games last season.
7. Josh Sargent (71 OVR – 82 POT)

Team: Norwich City
Age: 21
Wage: £15,000
Value: £3.6 million
Best Attributes: 78 Acceleration, 77 Stamina, 76 Shot Power
Not only is Josh Sargent one of the best US wonderkids to sign in FIFA 22 thanks to his 82 potential rating, but he’s also a rather cheap striker to try to get.
The Missourian has some useful attribute ratings for a young striker, with his 76 shot power, 74 attack positioning, 74 reactions, and 71 finishing being the most useful. That said, as he grows towards his decent potential, Sargent’s 78 acceleration and 73 sprint speed should also improve.
After earning promotion back into the Premier League, Norwich City opted to spend some £8.5 million to bring in Sargent. He came over from the now-relegated, former Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen, where he had scored five goals in 32 games last season.
